You are to Name Him Jesus

"She will bear a son and you are to name Him Jesus,
because He will save His people from their sins.”
(Matthew 1:21)

The conception of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit signifies the divine intervention in human history. It teaches us about the omnipotence of God, who can make the impossible possible. Joseph’s decision to take Mary as his wife, despite the unusual circumstances, demonstrates immense faith and obedience. He trusted in God’s message delivered through the angel, showing us the importance of faith in God’s plan, even when it doesn’t align with societal norms or our own understanding. The angel announced that Jesus would save His people from their sins. This brings a message of hope and salvation, reminding us of God’s merciful nature and His desire for reconciliation with humanity.

16 Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ. 18 Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. 20 Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. 21 She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 24 When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. (Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24)

In history's fabric, divine threads intertwine, Jesus' conception, a sign of the divine. The Holy Spirit's work, a mystery unfurled, God's omnipotence displayed to the world. Making possible what seems impossible to all, God's power and might, on it we can call. Joseph, a man of faith, obedient and true accepted God's plan, a perspective anew. Despite the unusual, the unexpected, the strange, Joseph trusted in God, embraced the change. An angel's message, a divine revelation, Joseph followed in faith, without hesitation. The angel announced, with a voice clear and bright, Jesus would save people from their plight. A message of hope, of salvation so grand, a testament to God's merciful hand. In God's plan, even when it's concealed, through faith and obedience, it's revealed. So let us remember, in every situation, God's desire for reconciliation.

Dear Lord Jesus, we acknowledge Your divine conception through the Holy Spirit, a testament to the divine intervention in human history. We are in awe of the omnipotence of God, who makes the impossible possible. We admire Joseph's immense faith and obedience. Despite the unusual circumstances, he trusted in God’s message delivered through the angel. This teaches us about the importance of faith in God’s plan, even when it doesn’t align with societal norms or our own understanding. We rejoice in the angel's announcement that You, Jesus, would save Your people from their sins. This brings us a message of hope and salvation, reminding us of God’s merciful nature and His desire for reconciliation with humanity. In Your holy name, we pray, Amen.

Jesus is our Messiah, the ultimate king from David’s line who rules over God’s people and the nations. He is the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant. As a descendant of David, He is the promised king whose reign is everlasting. His sacrifice and resurrection are the ultimate demonstration of God’s love. God’s eternal love for Christ overflows into His eternal love for David and for all who trust in Christ alone. Let us praise and thank the Lord our God for His love which is not limited but overflows.

4 The Lord spoke to Nathan and said: 5 “Go, tell my servant David, 12 ‘When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your heir after you, sprung from your loins, and I will make his kingdom firm. 13 It is he who shall build a house for my name. And I will make his royal throne firm forever. 14 I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. 16 Your house and your kingdom shall endure forever before me; your throne shall stand firm forever.’” (2 Samuel 7:4-5, 12-14, 16)

In the lineage of David, a promise divine, a king for all ages, in prophecy's line. Jesus, our Messiah, in majesty reigns over nations and peoples, His rule never wanes. Fulfillment of covenant, Davidic in kind, in Jesus, its essence, we are inclined. Descendant of David, His reign without end, an everlasting kingdom, He does commend. His sacrifice profound, resurrection so bright, demonstrations of love, in God's holy light. From David to Christ, a love so profound, in Christ alone, our faith is sound. Overflowing love, from the Father above, to David, to Christ, an eternal love. Let us give thanks, let our praises ascend, for His love, limitless, knows no end.

Dear Heavenly Father, we acknowledge Jesus as our Messiah, the ultimate King from David’s line who rules over Your people and the nations. We recognize Him as the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant. As a descendant of David, He is the promised King whose reign is everlasting. We thank You for His sacrifice and resurrection, which are the ultimate demonstrations of Your love. Your eternal love for Christ overflows into Your eternal love for David and for all who trust in Christ alone. We praise and thank You, Lord our God, for Your love which is not limited but overflows. May we always remember Your promises and live in the light of Your love. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

The covenant of the Lord stands firm and His promises stands forever. We are comforted and assured with the knowledge that we can depend on God in all circumstances, especially in times of uncertainty or difficulty. He alone can bring peace and resilience allowing us to recover quickly from difficulties or challenges and enabling us to bounce back from adversity and maintain a positive outlook. Let us affirm our faith in God's steadfastness and reliability and proclaim His unchanging faithfulness through all generations.

2 The promises of the Lord I will sing forever; through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. 3 For you have said, “My kindness is established forever”; in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness. 4 “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant: 5 Forever will I confirm your posterity and establish your throne for all generations.” 27 “He shall say of me, ‘You are my father, my God, the rock, my savior.’ 29 Forever I will maintain my kindness toward him, and my covenant with him stands firm.” (Psalm 89:2-3, 4-5, 27, 29)

In the Lord's covenant, we find our stand, His promises forever, like footprints in the sand. Comforted, assured, in His presence we dwell, in all circumstances, He does excel. In times of uncertainty, in days of strife, God is our peace, the giver of life. He brings resilience, strong and true, helps us recover, makes us anew. From difficulties, challenges, we rise, with God, we can reach the skies. Bouncing back from adversity's face, maintaining a positive pace. God's steadfastness, His reliability, a beacon of hope, in life's instability. Let us affirm our faith, let our voices ring, proclaim His faithfulness, to Him we cling. Through all generations, His love unfurls, in the whispers of time, His faithfulness swirls. So let us sing, let our praises soar, for God's unchanging faithfulness, forevermore.

Dear Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that Your covenant stands firm and Your promises endure forever. We are comforted and assured, knowing that we can depend on You in all circumstances, especially in times of uncertainty or difficulty. You alone, Lord, bring peace and resilience. You enable us to recover quickly from difficulties or challenges, allowing us to bounce back from adversity and maintain a positive outlook. We affirm our faith in Your steadfastness and reliability. We proclaim Your unchanging faithfulness through all generations. May we always remember Your promises and live in the light of Your love. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

God is the one who gives life and calls into being what does not exist. His promise was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes from faith. It depends on faith so that it may be a gift and may be guaranteed to all. It is not only for those who adhere to the law but also to those who follow the faith. Despite all odds, let us believe in the hope that what the Lord had promised will surely be fulfilled.

13 It was not through the law that the promise was made to Abraham and his descendants that he would inherit the world, but through the righteousness that comes from faith. 16 For this reason, it depends on faith, so that it may be a gift, and the promise may be guaranteed to all his descendants, not to those who only adhere to the law but to those who follow the faith of Abraham, who is the father of all of us, 17 as it is written, I have made you father of many nations. He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not exist. 18 He believed, hoping against hope, that he would become the father of many nations, according to what was said, Thus shall your descendants be. 22 That is why it was credited to him as righteousness. (Romans 4:13, 16-18, 22)

God, the giver of life, the caller of the unseen, His promises not of law, but of faith evergreen. Righteousness through faith, a gift so grand, guaranteed to all, across every land. Not just for those who the law's path tread but also for those by faith's hand led. Despite the odds, in hope we're instilled, believing in the Lord, His promises fulfilled. So let us stand firm, let our faith not be swayed, for in God's promises, our hope is laid. Through faith, not law, His love unfurled, a gift to us, a promise to the world.

Dear Heavenly Father, we acknowledge You as the giver of life and the One who calls into being what does not exist. We recognize that Your promise was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes from faith. We understand that Your promise depends on faith so that it may be a gift and may be guaranteed to all. We know that it is not only for those who adhere to the law but also to those who follow the faith. Despite all odds, we believe in the hope that what You, Lord, have promised will surely be fulfilled. We trust in Your word and Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
