Go and Announce What the Lord has Done for You

“Go home to your family and announce to them
all what the Lord in his pity has done for you.”
MARK 5:19

Jesus drives out any evil or unclean spirits that may have cling to you. He has the power to heal your wounds and restore your soul. He has the authority to rebuke the enemy and make you whole. He has the grace to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. He has the peace to calm your fears and fill you with his joy and happiness. So trust in Him, and follow Him, and let Him be your guide. He will protect you, and comfort you, and always provide. He will make you a new creation, a child of God, and He will see you through.

Go home to your family and announce to them all what the Lord in his pity has done for you. How he saved you from death and gave you a new call. How he filled you with his Spirit and made you anew. Tell them of His wonders and His mighty deeds. How He healed your diseases and set you free. How He answered your prayers and met your needs. How He showed you His mercy and His love for thee. Share with them the gospel and the good news. How he died on the cross and rose again. How He offers forgiveness and eternal life to choose. How He invites you to follow Him and be His friend.

1 Jesus and his disciples came to the other side of the sea, to the territory of the Gerasenes. 2 When he got out of the boat, at once a man from the tombs who had an unclean spirit met him. 3 The man had been dwelling among the tombs, and no one could restrain him any longer, even with a chain. 4 In fact, he had frequently been bound with shackles and chains, but the chains had been pulled apart by him and the shackles smashed, and no one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the hillsides he was always crying out and bruising himself with stones. 6 Catching sight of Jesus from a distance, he ran up and prostrated himself before him, 7 crying out in a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me!” 8 (He had been saying to him, “Unclean spirit, come out of the man!”) 9 He asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “Legion is my name. There are many of us.” 10 And he pleaded earnestly with him not to drive them away from that territory. 11 Now a large herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside. 12 And they pleaded with him, “Send us into the swine. Let us enter them.” 13 And he let them, and the unclean spirits came out and entered the swine. The herd of about two thousand rushed down a steep bank into the sea, where they were drowned. 14 The swineherds ran away and reported the incident in the town and throughout the countryside. And people came out to see what had happened. 15 As they approached Jesus, they caught sight of the man who had been possessed by Legion, sitting there clothed and in his right mind. And they were seized with fear. 16 Those who witnessed the incident explained to them what had happened to the possessed man and to the swine. 17 Then they began to beg him to leave their district. 18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed pleaded to remain with him. 19 But Jesus would not permit him but told him instead, “Go home to your family and announce to them all what the Lord in his pity has done for you.” 20 Then the man went off and began to proclaim in the Decapolis what Jesus had done for him; and all were amazed. (Mark 5:1-20)

Accept the dire consequences of your acts. You cannot escape the reality of your facts. You are responsible for what you have done. You cannot undo the damage or run. You have to face the wrath and the pain. You have to endure the loss and the shame. You have to bear the guilt and the blame. You have to live with the stain and the name. But there is still hope and grace, there is still forgiveness and mercy, there is still love and peace, there is still God and His Son.

If you repent and confess your sins. If you turn and follow His ways. If you trust and obey His commands. If you love and serve Him always. He will accept you and cleanse you. He will heal you and restore you. He will bless you and favor you. He will save you and reward you.

The Lord will look upon your affliction and make it up to you with benefits. He will not forget your pain and sorrow, but He will turn them into gifts. He will use your trials and troubles to mold you and refine you. He will bring you closer to Him and reveal His purpose for you. He will heal your broken heart and renew your spirit.

13 An informant came to David with the report, “The children of Israel have transferred their loyalty to Absalom.” 14 At this, David said to all his servants who were with him in Jerusalem: “Up! Let us take flight, or none of us will escape from Absalom. Leave quickly, lest he hurry and overtake us, then visit disaster upon us and put the city to the sword.” 30 As David went up the Mount of Olives, he wept without ceasing. His head was covered, and he was walking barefoot. All those who were with him also had their heads covered and were weeping as they went. 16:5 As David was approaching Bahurim, a man named Shimei, the son of Gera of the same clan as Saul’s family, was coming out of the place, cursing as he came. 6 He threw stones at David and at all the king’s officers, even though all the soldiers, including the royal guard, were on David’s right and on his left. 7 Shimei was saying as he cursed: “Away, away, you murderous and wicked man! 8 The Lord has requited you for all the bloodshed in the family of Saul, in whose stead you became king, and the Lord has given over the kingdom to your son Absalom. And now you suffer ruin because you are a murderer.” 9 Abishai, son of Zeruiah, said to the king: “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over, please, and lop off his head.” 10 But the king replied: “What business is it of mine or of yours, sons of Zeruiah, that he curses? Suppose the Lord has told him to curse David; who then will dare to say, ‘Why are you doing this?’” 11 Then the king said to Abishai and to all his servants: “If my own son, who came forth from my loins, is seeking my life, how much more might this Benjaminite do so! Let him alone and let him curse, for the Lord has told him to. 12 Perhaps the Lord will look upon my affliction and make it up to me with benefits for the curses he is uttering this day.” 13 David and his men continued on the road, while Shimei kept abreast of them on the hillside, all the while cursing and throwing stones and dirt as he went. (2 Samuel 15:13-14, 30; 16:5-13)

You may be surrounded by the evils of the world, but the Lord your God is your shield and glory. He lifts up your head and protects you all the way. He is your refuge and strength, your hope and story. He delivers you from the snares and the traps. He rescues you from the lions and the bears. He covers you with His feathers and His wings. He surrounds you with His angels and His cares.

Cast all your troubles and cares to the Lord. He is the only one who can help you and support, the one who can handle them and sort, the one who can change them and abort. He cares for you, and He knows what you are going through. He loves you and He wants what is best for you. Trust in the Lord and cast your burdens on Him. Rely on Him and rest your worries on Him. Depend on Him and release your fears on Him. Hope in Him and surrender everything to Him.

2 O Lord, how many are my adversaries! Many rise up against me! 3 Many are saying of me, “There is no salvation for him in God.” 4 But you, O Lord, are my shield; my glory, you lift up my head! 5 When I call out to the Lord, he answers me from his holy mountain. 6 When I lie down in sleep, I wake again, for the Lord sustains me. 7 I fear not the myriads of people arrayed against me on every side. (Psalm 3:2-3, 4-5, 6-7)

Lord Jesus, all things of the world and beyond, visible and invisible obeys You. I may be surrounded by a legion of evil forces in the world but with You who is in me, I can never be harmed. I humbly cast all my troubles and cares upon You O Lord knowing and believing that You know what I am going through. Thank You so much for all the things that You have done and continue to do to give me the best of life. All glory, honor, and praise are Yours now and forever. Amen.
