"I am the light of the world;
he who follows me
will not walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life."
(John 8:12)
Just as light illuminates physical darkness, Jesus guides people away from sin and confusion. Following Him leads to clarity, righteousness, and eternal life. A life dedicated to Him brings wisdom, moral integrity, and purpose.
Spiritual blindness that causes skepticism and pride can keep us from recognizing God’s truth. True belief in Christ means that we must acknowledge His divine nature and mission. He does not condemn based on appearances but sees the heart, teaching us to be just and compassionate in our interactions with others.
In shadows deep and weary night,
A beacon shines—a brilliant light.
He calls the lost, the broken, torn,
To rise anew, redeemed, reborn.
No darkness holds, no fear remains,
For in His glow, all hope sustains.
A path made clear, so bright, so wide,
For those who walk close by His side.
Oh, Light of Life, so pure, so true,
Each step with You, my heart renews.
No longer lost in endless strife,
For in Your love, I find my life.
Lord Jesus,
You are the Light that shines in the darkness, The guiding flame in the midst of confusion and despair. I come before You with an open heart, Seeking Your truth, Your wisdom, and Your grace.
Lead me, Lord, along the path of righteousness, so that I may never stumble or be lost in the shadows. Illuminate my soul with Your love, that I may reflect Your light in all I do.
Help me to trust in You completely, to walk in faith, and to share Your light with those in need. May Your presence be my comfort, my strength, and my joy.
Jesus, the Light of Life, Shine within me, guide my steps, and make me a vessel of Your divine truth.
Amen.

THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
John 8:12-20
Gospel Acclamation
I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, says the Lord, but rather in his conversion, that he may live.
Gospel | John 8:12-20
12 Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 13 So the Pharisees said to him, “You testify on your own behalf, so your testimony cannot be verified.” 14 Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I do testify on my own behalf, my testimony can be verified, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone. 16 And even if I should judge, my judgment is valid, because I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me. 17 Even in your law it is written that the testimony of two men can be verified. 18 I testify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me.” 19 So they said to him, “Where is your father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the treasury in the temple area. But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
