"A good person
out of the store of goodness
in his heart produces good,
but an evil person
out of a store of evil produces evil;
for from the fullness of the heart
the mouth speaks.”
(Luke 6:45)
We should strive to be well-informed and discerning in our own lives so that we can guide others effectively. By addressing our own flaws first, we can approach others with a more compassionate and understanding attitude.
Our actions and words reflect the true nature of our hearts. Good actions come from a good heart, and bad actions from a bad heart. Cultivating a pure and righteous heart will naturally lead to positive behavior and speech.
In the depths of the heart, treasures lie in store,
A trove of goodness or evil, forevermore.
A good person, with a heart pure and bright,
Brings forth deeds that shine like the morning light.
From a well of kindness, love, and grace,
Flows words that heal and actions that embrace.
But an evil person, with a heart dark and cold,
Brings forth deeds that tarnish and scold.
From a store of malice, envy, and spite,
Flows words that wound and actions that fight.
For the heart's fullness, both light and dark,
Speaks through the mouth, leaving its mark.
So guard your heart, tend it with care,
Let goodness flourish, let kindness be your prayer.
For from the heart's treasury, life does flow,
A reflection of the seeds we sow.
Lord Jesus,
I come before You with a humble heart, Seeking Your grace and guidance. Fill me with Your goodness, so that out of the abundance of my heart, I may produce good.
Help me to store kindness, love, and compassion, In the depths of my soul. May my words reflect the purity of my intentions, and my actions embody Your teachings.
Guard my heart against the evils of envy, malice, and pride, and cleanse me of any darkness that may reside within. For I know that from the fullness of the heart, The mouth speaks.
Guide me, O Lord, to be a vessel of Your light, spreading love and goodness to all I encounter. Let my life be a testament to Your eternal love and mercy, and may I always walk in Your righteous path.
Amen.

JUDGING OTHERS / A TREE KNOWN BY ITS FRUIT
Luke 6:39-45
Gospel Acclamation
Shine like lights in the world as you hold on to the word of life.
Gospel | Luke 6:39-45
39 Jesus told his disciples a parable, “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? 40 No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. 41 Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye. 43 “A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. 45 A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.”
